Xiaomi Redmi Go could be the latest model from the Chinese smartphone maker’s stable to adopt the Google Go programme. In a recent development spotted by a tech blog which goes by the name of Nashville Chatter, the alleged smartphone from Xiaomi shows a model with the number M1903C3GG in various certification websites from Russia, Singapore, and the United States.
The three listings do not disclose a lot of spec details on the upcoming probable Android Go smartphone, however, one website calls it the Redmi Go. This model is mostly going to be Xiaomi’s Android Go variant. The Android Go initiative is directed at the low-cost smartphone market and the new Xiaomi phone could be the joining the Redmi lineup as the low-cost Android Go smartphone.
The spotting by Nashville Chatter spawns further info about the model numbered M1903C3GG which has received further certifications by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the United States and also the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Russia. The two sources did not point towards any probable names for the Android Go smartphone. But a Xiaomi smartphone with the name Redmi Go has emerged on Singapore’s IMDA certification website with an identical model number.
The United States FCC certification mentions that the smartphone in question gets a dual-SIM setup, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth V4.2 connectivity. Also revealed are the dimensions which state the smartphone will get 141mm of height and 71mm of width and 150mm from corner to corner on the display.
The Android Go smartphone is also slated to run Android 9.0 (Pie) out of the box and will be powered by 1GB of RAM.
Considering the smartphone has surfaced on a three certification websites of three major markets, it can be safely assumed that the smartphone will land in the global markets within 4 months in the Indian market. Considering Xiaomi already sells the Redmi 5A for Rs 5,999 in India, it could price the Redmi Go well under Rs 6,000.
Similar to the Android Go programme, Xiaomi also sells the Mi A1 and the Mi A2 Android One smartphones in India.
